Čađenoviću zadržavanje do 72 sata

Suspended special prosecutor Saša Čađenović was taken to the Special State Prosecutor's Office today, where he was ordered to be detained for up to 72 hours.

Čađenović was arrested yesterday by members of the Special Police Department at the request of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT). The SDT has not yet commented on this case.

As Lazar Aković, Čađenović's lawyer, stated yesterday, the reason for his client's arrest is still unknown to him.

“My client has not yet been questioned in the SPO. The reason for the arrest is unknown to us,” Aković said.

Čađenović is reportedly arrested on suspicion of abuse of office.

There is already an ongoing case against Čađenović in the Higher Court in Podgorica. The SDT accuses him of being a member of a criminal organization allegedly formed by former police official Zoran Lazović. He is also charged along with former chief special prosecutor Milivoje Katnić, who is currently in UIKS, as well as Lazović.

The Higher Court in Podgorica lifted Čađenović's house arrest at the end of October last year.

Recently, Čađenović was penalized with a 40 percent salary reduction for a period of six months and a two-year ban on promotion due to holding two cases, including the “Telekom” affair, in abeyance for years until they became stale. This was decided by the Disciplinary Council of the Prosecutorial Council.
